While turning to the dark side, Beldorion becomes greedy and power hungry while Taselda goes insane. After losing a lightsaber duel with Beldorion, Taselda flees the scene and continues living on the planet for many years, descending into madness and poverty.

Beldorion takes control of the remote planet and rules during the time of Great Jedi Purge, unaffected and unnoticed by the emerging Galactic Empire. She is eventually captured.

Meanwhile Leia Organa Solo, Chief of State of the New Republic, journeys to the planet on a separate diplomatic mission and is captured upon arrival. Luke Skywalker also travels to the planet in search of information regarding the disappearance of Ming. Sometime during her capture, Leia manages to recover her lightsaber and engages in a brief lightsaber duel with Beldorion.

Hutts are rarely Force sensitive. Although Beldorion turns to the dark side, the Hutt becomes a Dark Jedi and is not considered a Sith.

Nevertheless, he was still powerful enough to generate huge Force storms. Additionally, he was able to use Telekinesis to summon a glass, though when he attempted the same feat with a tray he was unsuccessful. When angered by his servant, Liegeus Vorn , he would occasionally use the Force to inflict painful migraines as punishment. Beldorion had some skill using Force persuasion , and his gaze was considered by some to be hypnotic. However, he failed to use this power to influence Leia Organa Solo, who was only marginally trained in the Force and was drugged at the time.

Unlike most Hutts, Beldorion used the Force to maintain a muscular form, allowing him to retain his prowess with a lightsaber after several centuries of life. Having crafted a lightsaber with a purple blade , Beldorion would change the trajectory of his lightsaber strikes in a battle, demonstrating some attributes of the seventh form of lightsaber combat.
